Online Shopping Websites- Is the Trend Here to Stay?

by Guest on January 14, 2013 · 1 comment

Online shopping has become the latest fad in town since the last few years and there has been a surge in the number of people who are opting to shop online; rather than offline. Not only it has brought the entire marketplace from all over the world onto our screens; but it has rather changed the way we live altogether.  Gone are the days when we used to have to get ready and hit the malls and search around for the best deals, because today, we just have to connect online and that’s it!

But, the question is “Is the trend here to stay? Or will it fade away with time?” Well, the question isn’t unjustified you see; we have seen so many trends come and go in recent years that it’s a justifiable question to ask. Although frankly, if you ask me, I would say that they have not only hit the internet ‘bang on’; but in fact, it’s going to last for a very long time and the future seems bright for this sector.

Apparently, there are a lot of reasons why I say so…

# Almost Anything Can Be Found Online

I have a few friends, who are not based in the US anymore, and they have a tough time finding things that they are so used to; most of the things aren’t readily available where they are right now. Earlier, they really used have a tough time getting those things, because the only option was to ask a friend to buy those things for them and send it to them via international courier services—Which, of course, was not always possible.

But, ever since online websites hit the scene; life has become a lot easier for those friends of mine. Not only can they order stuff at their convenience; but they can be sure that they will get the things delivered on time, since most of the reputed websites that sell stuff online have a strict policy when it comes to delivering things on time.

# Outrageous Deals

When was the last time you hit the market and found something at throwaway prices? Not too often right? But, on the internet it seems more like an ‘everyday affair’.  As a matter of fact, some deals are so outrageous that I can hardly believe my eyes. Further, apart from the heavy discounts offered by these websites; you can also make use of coupons to get the prices slashed even more—a good example of discount coupons that I use a lot while shopping online are the coupons from JCPenney. But, they are not the only ones, as you can find a lot of similar discount coupons if you just spend a bit of time finding the one that suits your purpose.

# Buy Now Pay Later

In simple words—“It’s basically the option to pay in equated monthly installments.” Unlike shopping in a mall, where you need to pay upfront for buying a shirt, jeans, a showpiece or whatever that you want to buy; shopping online gives you the option to pay for almost anything in easy equated monthly installments; which, in my opinion is a good thing for us as consumers, because sometimes we just need to buy something important, but don’t necessarily have the money to buy it. Further, due to the increasing competition amongst these websites; you are more likely to find what you want at rates that no shop in any mall can match up to.

# Money Back Guarantee for up to 30 days

There are some reputed online shopping websites which offer up to a 30 days of money back guarantee, just in case you don’t like the product that has been offered; unlike a shop, where the maximum time for return of product typically happens to be a day or two. This is something that I find really enticing, and honestly it is one of the primary reasons why I do most of my shopping online these days; it’s not necessary that I might find time to return the product the very next day.

Over the years, online shopping has become more than a promotional tactic devised by some really big corporations to promote their products; in fact, today a lot of young entrepreneurs from all over the world are entering into this sector and coming up with some really bright ideas; further a lot of niche specific shopping websites have cropped up all over the internet that sell anything from clothes to shoes; flowers to cakes and literally anything that you can think about. If there is something you want to buy, chances are, that someone is selling it online; and with all the benefits that these websites provide to the end-consumer there hardly seems to be any reason why they won’t stand the test of time.

I have to admit I love online shopping. It is so convenient and it makes it easy to price compare. Plus the stuff gets delivered to my door which saves a ton of time.
